The thirst for blood, which was the 1st° for Bram’s Dracula, and 2nd° for Vlad. You can find a link between these two characters for so many reasons. And even though it was said that Bram Stoker’s Dracula was not directly inspired by Vlad but more by Transylvanian superstitions. There is the other side which is Vlad the Impaler, the horrible person and coldhearted tyrant who with his armies killed 80,000 people.Īnd then there’s the myth of Dracula, by Bram Stoker. There is the national hero fighting against the Ottoman Empire and protecting his country. We had a lot of discussions about who could be the inspiration for this album, and we went for Vlad Dracula because there are three different aspects to him that we can talk about. What can you tell us about the theme and why you chose to focus on him? Then, we went back to being a little bit scared because we were like, now we have to keep this standard! It was scary at first, but then we had such a nice response, and it was such a great reward for all the hard work. It’s not just your fans who are listening to the songs. They might not like what you’re doing at all, or just have completely different tastes, and become very critical. For example, you’re releasing a new song on the Napalm channel, and people don’t know your music. It’s just something that makes you so happy. But what’s it like to debut as a completely new band and then hear all the positive feedback that you receive? We’ve had a little bit more time to refine it.įrom the initial crowdsourcing to the first single release in 2018, and up to “Marching on Versailles”, I’m sure there’s always some apprehension when debuting a new single or a new album. I think the main difference is that people who listen to our first album were like, there’s a little bit of a metalcore touch here because of Adrian’s guitar playing, and maybe Nick as well. But you can still recognize the Ad Infinitum sound. Has that sound changed much? For example, has it gotten heavier?ĭefinitely heavier. In the beginning and during the songwriting process, we thought, maybe we do need to take some time and get some outside opinions. The negatives I would say are as you mentioned, you’re on your own.
With the first album, we still love it, and we can hear that we pushed our limits for the second one. We’ve experienced more, tried more, and pushed our limits.
We included five of the new songs, and it’s just so much more enjoyable because it’s really us, it’s our energy, it’s Ad Infinitum. We’ve experienced it twice, this year as we had some chance to play some festivals. So we took the time to go through every single detail, and it’s just much more enjoyable to play on stage. I think the positive is that we worked much harder because we were scared to do something wrong. What are the positive and the negative of taking a more do-it-yourself approach to production? It’s a fresher, a little bit more modern, and a little bit younger of an album. It’s just 100% us of course, we worked with some incredible talent on the orchestrations, but as far as the compositions goes, it’s 100% us. Because with Chapter II, we are just four musicians writing our own music, without the outside influence of a producer. So from there, until Chapter II, so much had changed. So I needed someone to transcribe my ideas into real instruments. I had demos I had so many ideas, but then, I’m not a drummer or a guitar player. So I started recruiting musicians, and from the musical perspective, it evolved when I was working with a producer.
UNSTOPPABLE LYRICS AD INFINITUM FULL
I didn’t want to be with me and hired guns I wanted it to be with a full band that’s just as invested as I am. When I was still working on it as a solo project, and after investing so much time and energy, I realized I just loved it so much and that I wanted to bring it on stage. How did you go from there, to where you are now, to the upcoming release of Chapter II, with what is now a full band? I remember when you announced the Ad Infinitum project, which at the time, I think was going to be a solo venture. You’ve had a lot of trouble with trying to get a tour going how many cancellations have you had thus far?įour actually, though not all of them were announced.
